Konin, Poland - Hydrogen Utopia International delivers first Polish centre of hydrogen powered by a UK licensed system.

Hydropolis United sp. z o.o. in cooperation with the city of Konin have reached an agreement to create The First Polish Centre of Hydrogen.

The agreement was reached with the Mayor of the City of Konin- Mr Piotr Korytkowski.

Konin expressed the desire of becoming the first city on the European Continent to apply the UK licensed DMG System in order to tackle the most burning environmental and socio-economical issues which are

  • Unrecyclable plastic. - The European Union has banned all non-recyclable plastic waste being shipped to developing nations from 1 January.

  • High CO2 Emissions

  • Rapid job loss & City depopulation

THE POLISH CENTRE OF HYDROGEN:

The goal of this unique initiative in Poland was only possible thanks to a close collaboration between the UK licensor of the unique plastic to hydrogen technology and Hydrogen Utopia International, LTD which acquired a licence to use the licensed system in Poland.

The project in its full scale will contain 10 units. The units will be placed all together in one location. The site is one that Hydrogen Utopia International Ltd has received a legal access to commence planning applications, necessary permits and EIA and for this purpose HUI has engaged SWECO to commence the process.

The systems will be rolled out in a sequence according to the support of the respective public institutions.

In order to help building the first plant, Hydropolis United with the collaboration of Konin applied for EUR 12 million under the EU Innovation Grant. In order to build the first centralised DMG centralised plant EUR 60 million is to be applied for from the Just Transition Fund which will be matched by funds from the Polish Government under the JUST Transition fund terms of Government matching funds.

NOTES TO EDITORS:

HUI via its subsidiary Hydropolis United will place first the 10 systems in the city of Konin under the JUST Transition Fund. The whole project is expected to be one of EUR 250 million. The expectation is of EU support of EUR 60 million matched by the Polish Government. Depending on the success of the EU funding application process, the remaining funding will be provided by ECB loans and funds raised in the financial markets.

On completion the project will create 200 - 300 jobs which will assist the City of Konin in starting to rebuild itself to its former glory. HUI through the DMG 4.0. technology will create jobs at all levels including high class engineers. It is believed that this project will be the blueprint for other countries in terms of how to tackle their environmental and economic issues.

The waste plastic to hydrogen technology exclusively licensed to HUI in Poland is a unique system that uses mixed waste, un- recyclable plastic from any source including municipal waste and converts it into a valuable intermediate product, a synthetic gas, that can be used for either power generation or also as source of high-quality hydrogen for fuel cell vehicles. Each system is small scale and can produce 2 tons of hydrogen a day plus 58 MwH of exported electricity or just 85 MwH of electricity from 40 tons of unsorted mixed plastic. It provides an “end of life solution for all waste plastic.

Under the licensing agreement each kiln will generate a royalty of EU500k per year for the UK licensor. When the system of 10 is complete this will generate EUR 5 million per annum for the minimum 20 year life of the system.
