Hydrogen Utopia International PLC is delighted to announce its attendance with Powerhouse Energy and Peel L&P at the COP26 Oceans Saving Roundtable
Environmental Background
Production of plastic increased exponentially from 2.3 million tons in 1950 to 368 million tons in 2019. This figure is expected to double by 2030 and quintuple by 2050.
Every year, about 8 million tons of plastic waste escapes into the world’s oceans. As time passes, more and more plastic waste is broken down into microplastics, with drastic consequences for the world’s oceans and food chains.
Hydrogen Utopia
Hydrogen Utopia aims to become one of the leading new European companies specialising in turning non-recyclable mixed waste plastic into carbon-free fuels, new materials or distributed renewable heat, utilising Powerhouse Energy’s DMG® technology
DMG® is a chemical recycling process to convert non-recyclable waste plastics into syngas which can be used to produce new chemicals, as a supplement to natural gas, hydrogen, electrical power or distributed heat
Waste plastics used in the system do not require any cleaning or special treatment – they are simply collected, shredded into pieces of uniform size and fed into the plant
Highlights of the COP26 Ocean Saving Roundtable
Jo Ruxton, who directed the film "Plastic Oceans", will be hosting the round table
Hydrogen Utopia CEO, Aleksandra Binkowska, will describe the group’s plans for dealing with plastic waste in Poland and continental Europe- Hydrogen Utopia will present a 3D animation of the company’s waste plastic to sustainable energy chemical conversion chamber. This system is expected to be a key enabler in addressing the world’s plastic pollution crisis
Hydrogen Utopia has invited Harald Ranke, Managing Director, Salas-Linde GmbH, part of Linde. Linde is a €160bn leading global industrial gases and engineering company. In September 2021, Linde announced a deal with Hydrogen Utopia to deploy its gas cleaning and hydrogen technologies in Hydrogen Utopia’s unique waste-to-hydrogen systems in Poland.
Sweco, the leading pan-European engineering consultancy engaged by Hydrogen Utopia to obtain the necessary environmental and building permits for the site of its first plant, will be attending the round table and will talk about the progress it is making in Konin, Poland.
Howard White, Strategic Advisor to Powerhouse Energy, will discuss how Renewable Energy and the concept of the Circular Economy have finally hit the mainstream.
