Powerhouse energy group and Hydrogen utopia in a Collaboration Agreement to deploy DMG® technology in territories outside of the United Kingdom
HU2021 International UK Limited (“HUI”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hydrogen Utopia International PLC, is delighted to announce that is has entered into a binding collaboration agreement with Powerhouse Energy Group PLC (AIM: PHE) (“Powerhouse”), the UK technology company commercialising hydrogen production from waste plastic, to market the deployment of DMG® technology in territories outside of the UK.
Under the collaboration agreement, HUI and Powerhouse have agreed to pursue the development and implementation of distributed and modular production of hydrogen and power from waste materials on a commercial basis to the mutual benefit of each of the parties on an exclusive basis in Poland, Greece and Hungary. It has also been agreed that HUI may pursue the development of plastic to hydrogen projects in other territories outside the UK on a non-exclusive basis. In addition to pursuing European projects, HUI intends to utilise its existing contacts operating in Japan and Korea to explore opportunities in those territories. Powerhouse has agreed that it may grant HUI exclusivity over further territories outside the UK, subject to the agreement of a new exclusivity agreement for the relevant territory.
The collaboration agreement creates a framework for HUI to market and develop DMG® technology, the use of Powerhouse’s design materials to identify projects and provides for the relevant intellectual property licences necessary to facilitate the development and implementation of projects. Powerhouse may provide services where requested on payment of service fees to assist in developing and implementing projects.
PHE and HUI have been working together on an initiative to deploy DMG® technology in continental Europe since November 2020, when the first agreement between them was signed with the intention of building DMG® plants in Poland. In May 2021 it was agreed that HUI would have exclusive rights to Hungary and Greece and HUI is creating a project pipeline in those countries, working closely with a cross section of municipalities, universities, regional and local authorities and government bodies, in addition to a number of private sector organisations..
HUI’s flagship project is the construction of DMG® plants in Konin, Central Poland, where the city intends to deploy 10 systems. The first unit to be installed is anticipated to convert 40 tonnes of plastic waste per day into 58 MWh of renewable electricity and 2-3 tonnes per day of clean hydrogen. Hydrogen will be used locally as a fuel for city buses and other heavy-duty vehicles, as well as for passenger cars. The DMG® systems will also generate heat from operations, which will be captured and used to provide heat to the citizens of Konin via a Central Heating System. On completion, the Konin project will create 200 - 300 jobs, which will assist the City of Konin in rebuilding itself to its former historic grandeur. Installation of the plastic to hydrogen Konin plants by HUI is expected to create local jobs at all levels in and around Konin , including those for highly skilled engineers.
It is believed that the Konin project will act as a blueprint for other European countries in tackling environmental issues and encouraging or facilitating local economic regeneration. The Magistrate of the Konin City Hall believes that the DMG® project is vital to the City and has been pivotal in accelerating the process of DMG® deployment.
Aleksandra Binkowska, CEO of Hydrogen Utopia International PLC, said:
"We are delighted to have formalised Hydrogen Utopia’s collaboration agreement with Powerhouse for all territories outside the UK. We continue to use our networks and relationships across Europe and the rest of the world to look to secure project approvals, finance and technical expertise to facilitate the deployment of DMG® technology. Our mission remains to accelerate the development of a circular and net zero carbon economy in Europe and potentially the rest of the world.”
More information about HUI's plans for the rollout of the DMG® technology and the partners with whom it will be working with will be published in due course.
James Greenstreet, Non-Executive Chairman of Powerhouse Energy Group, said:
“Powerhouse is pleased to sign this collaboration agreement with HUI which is championing our technology across Europe and potentially the rest of the world. This agreement provides a framework for us to move forward with projects with Hydrogen Utopia and will help to deliver our long-term vision for DMG® technology to be deployed internationally, helping the world transition to clean energy whilst providing a solution to end-of-life plastic”.

ABOUT HYDROGEN UTOPIA
Hydrogen Utopia International (HUI) was founded in 2020 by Aleksandra Binkowska with the aim to turn Poland and the EU to net positive through using unrecyclable plastic and transforming it into low cost hydrogen and electricity. The UK based technology company is actively working with the EU to gain funding and subsidies for the first waste to energy DMG plant in Konin, Poland. https://www.hydrogenutopia.eu
ABOUT POWERHOUSE ENERGY GROUP
Powerhouse Energy, the sustainable hydrogen company, has developed a technology that provides a solution to non-recyclable plastic and produces a clean energy that can help improve air quality by replacing diesel with hydrogen as a transport fuel.
Powerhouse technology aims to be used at a local level providing a closed loop solution within the community for non-recyclable plastic waste, cleaning up our oceans and helping to accelerate the clean energy transition to reach the target of net zero emissions by 2030.
The Distributed Modular Generation (DMG®) technology can utilise non-recyclable plastic, end-of-life-tyres, and other waste streams to efficiently and economically convert them into syngas from which valuable products such as chemical precursors, hydrogen, electricity and other industrial products may be derived.
Powerhouse's technology is one of the world's first proven, distributed, modular, hydrogen from waste (HfW) process.
The Powerhouse (DMG®) process can generate up to 2 tonnes of road-fuel quality hydrogen and more than 58MWh of exportable electricity per day.
Powerhouse's process produces low levels of safe residues and requires a small operating footprint, making it suitable for deployment at enterprise and community level. As announced on 11th February 2020 under its Supplemental Agreement with Peel Environmental, Powerhouse will receive an annual license fee of GBP500,000 in respect of each project which is commissioned.
Powerhouse is quoted on the London Stock Exchange's AIM Market under the ticker: PHE and is incorporated in the United Kingdom.
